Hawkins Throwing Academy

Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, part of Greenville Hospital System (GHS), has teamed up with Proaxis Therapy™ and Acceleration Sports Institute to create a resource that helps overhead athletes avoid injury by using biomechanical assessment– Hawkins Throwing Academy.

Why? Studies suggest poor flexibility, strength, pitching mechanics and volume affect performance and injury risk. The Hawkins Throwing Academy provides treatment, rehabilitation and throwing performance programs based on our leading-edge research. This comprehensive approach allows throwing athletes to reach their full potential and remain injury free. Whether you are an injured pitcher or just want to perform at your best, Hawkins Throwing Academy can tailor a program for you.

Are you an injured pitcher? Our team includes physicians, surgeons and physical therapists in conjunction with Darren Holmes – a 13-year Major League pitcher and World Series champion – working together to provide comprehensive care.

Want to be a better pitcher? Throwers receive an extensive program including areas such as core strength, arm flexiblity and throwing mechanics.

About Our Research Our research team partners with the Colorado Rockies and is currently funded by Major League Baseball to prevent arm injuries in pitchers.
