Philip Wessinger, MD

 
Dr. Wessinger is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement using minimally invasive techniques and alternate-bearing surfaces. A graduate of Furman University, he earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University. He has served as team physician for Wake Forest University, the Greenville Grrrowl professional hockey team and area high schools.

Ann Hernandez, ATC

 
1.) Where are you from? I am from Dyer, Indiana which is in Northwest Indiana and a small suburb of Chicago.

­­­2.) Where did you go to school and what is your educational background?I graduated from Manchester College in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training.

3.) What were you doing before you began working as a Steadman Hawkins Athletic Trainer?During the summers while I was in college I worked as a Sports Camp Counselor with kids ages 6-13.

4.) Why did you become a Steadman Hawkins Athletic Trainer? I became a Steadman Hawkins Athletic Trainer because once I learned about their work, I knew that this was something I wanted to be a part of. It gives me the experience and work that I knew that I wanted, and I wanted to get away from the cold Chicago winters.

5.) What is your favorite sport and why? My favorite sport to play and watch is basketball. I’ve been playing since I was in kindergarten and it’s such a fast paced game you can’t be bored, oh and it’s a pretty big deal in Indiana.

6.) Finish the sentence… When I am not working I really enjoy…When I am not working I really enjoy…being out doors and playing with my puppy.

7.) What is something most people do not know about you?
I’ve never seen the mountains until I moved down here, and now I try to get to them as much as possible.
